Der Beginn einer langen Reise (190e 2.6 Restauration und Tracktool-Umbau)

The beginning of a long journey (190e 2.6 Restoration and Tracktool Conversion)

Hey there, fellow car enthusiasts! Today, buckle up for an exciting journey as we dive into the restoration and transformation of a classic: the 190e 2.6. We're about to embark on an adventure filled with rusty challenges as well as shiny triumphs.

About the Car and its Condition

First up, let's meet our star: the 190e 2.6, boasting a respectable 166 horsepower under its hood. Born in the automotive heyday of 1987, this beauty has gracefully clocked 360,903 kilometers on the road. Sporting a sleek Anthracite Gray Metallic DB172 exterior, complete with a 5-speed manual transmission and a sunroof, it's a true vintage charmer. However, don't let its appearance deceive you – underneath that glossy facade lies a tale of rust, with botched repairs and unfortunate accidents marring its history.

Car body construction (Getting rid of the Rust)

Now, onto the nitty-gritty: bodywork. We're talking about a full-blown chronicle of rust repair here. Armed with flex grinders and Dremel tools, we've tackled rust like knights in shining armor. From the front wheel arches to the rear side panels, no area has been spared from our meticulous restoration efforts. We've rebuilt and welded in new panels for the footwells, sills, and even the jack points. Not to mention the careful attention given to cleaning up antenna holes and license plate mounts – it's all about those finishing touches!

Painting and Assembly

With the bodywork battle won, it's time to don our painter's hats. Primer, body adhesive, undercoating – you name it, we've applied it. The underbody and sills have been coated to withstand the toughest of terrains. After bidding adieu to our trusty paint shop, we delicately reassemble the car, piece by piece. And finally, as the sun sets on our workshop, we unveil our masterpiece to the world, gleaming under the daylight like a phoenix rising from the ashes.

But wait, the journey doesn't end here. Stay tuned for our next blog post, where we'll dive into the thrilling world of a Tracktool Built. Get ready to witness this 190e 2.6 transform into a track-ready beast, leaving tire marks on the asphalt and hearts pounding with excitement.
